Weekly Shoutout Video – WiseStamp

Using only my iPhone and some super simple editing this weekly video series is to celebrate some of the people, places and things that light up my little entrepreneurial life!

Do marketing for a man (or woman!) and he will have reach for a day. Teach a man (OR WOMAN, geez…) to do marketing and he will be able to grow his own business even if you get hit by a pickle truck.

Marketing online is a pretty big deal right now as anyone working in business may be aware of. And there’s apparently about a frillion different things we should be doing online at any given time to build our brands and it takes a giant, big giant nerdbrain to do it right.

What anyone working in business may NOT be aware of is…that’s bullshit.

That’s right, I said bullshit.

(via Know Your Meme)

The most important thing you can do to market yourself online is start building it in to what you’re already doing. One of the first things I recommend to my clients, before worrying about social media or SEO or CRM or PMS or ANYTHING else, is optimizing their email signature!

You send emails anyway so why not make them do more for you?

This tool I discovered recently through my friend Danni is called WiseStamp and it allows you to really easily build out a graphical signature for your emails and choose what you want to promote whether it’s just your Facebook page, your latest event or a sale or special offer!

This thing integrates with Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo & AOL mail and it is FREE.

If you want even MORE features than their jam-packed free version offers though like signatures for your whole team, premium design templates and priority support then it’s just $4/mo to upgrade to pro. FOUR DOLLARS y’all, that’s basically nothin’!

To get your own WiseStamp set up in about 5 minutes, click here > webapp.wisestamp.com

What other clever ways do you bake marketing into what you’re already doing in your business? Do you already have a customized signature or something else that’s part of your workflow that you’ve made work DOUBLE TIME? Please tell me about it in a comment!

Weekly Shoutout Video – How To Make an Easy Video

Weekly Shoutout Video – How To Make an Easy Video

Using only my iPhone and some super simple editing this weekly video series is to celebrate some of the people, places and things that light up my little entrepreneurial life!

So this week I am teaching a class on Intro to Video Production and I’ve had a ton of people contacting me asking when or if I’ll be doing it again. The answer is YES, like, real soon, and in different places across St. Louis (so stay tuned to this blog!!) but in the meantime I wanted to give you a few spoilers about why these weekly videos are just so damn GOOD.

Well, besides my hair. RIGHT? LOLZ

(All love for that goes to Kristen Linares, btw. I’d be lost without her!)

Anyway, I came up with an acronym for the most important, basic principles in video production called LASS which stands for: Lighting, Audio, Stability and Story.

Basic Video Techniques - LASS

Here’s how I tackle each of these in my video:

Light

Natural light is best so I make sure to make these videos facing a giant window. When it’s cloudy or too early or late in the day I also sometimes use a single fill light from my Cowboy Studio Light Kit.

Audio

The audio quality on the iPhone 5s and up is pretty awesome on its own so I just make sure the room is quiet and shoot away!

Stability

I just strap my iPhone right onto my tripod using this little thing and have a seat. No Blair Witch style weekly videos for me.

Story

My stories for this series are mostly that I have an intro, a body and a call to action at the end. The story is essentially the flow for what you’re talking about so it makes sense to your audience.

So there you have it, all of my secrets. Now that you know what’s up do you think you’ll tackle making a video of your own? Tell me about it in the comments or ask me any other questions you have, I’m happy to chat with y’all!

If you like what you’re seein’ here please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel for more videos just like this every Friday and of course, look for them here on my blog, too!

Weekly Shoutout Video – Intro To Video Production – Workshop + Lunch

Intro-to-Video-Production-FI

Using only my iPhone and some super simple editing this weekly video series is to celebrate some of the people, places and things that light up my little entrepreneurial life!

This week is a shoutout to an event my friend Kenny, musician & Social Media Specialist at Vantage Credit Union, came up with and has really helped me bring to life!

Are you ready to stop just WATCHING videos and start making your OWN that are good enough you want to share them?

You’re so in luck, all you need to get started now is something that’s probably in your pocket or purse already: your smartphone!

Just because you have the tool to do the thing doesn’t mean you’re just going to whip it out and suddenly be like, Michael Bay, though. Next you just need a wee little KNOWLEDGE BOMB about lighting, audio, shooting and storytelling techniques that can help you make videos you’re actually happy with and excited to share.

And YOU’RE IN LUCK AGAIN (are you Irish? Maybe it’s St. Patrick’s Day on the horizon…) because this week on Friday, March 20th I have another event happening called “Intro to Video Production – Smartphone Workshop + Lunch”

For an hour and a half we’re going to be learning about getting started with video production using our own smartphones and a bit of YouTube (Bring your laptop!) and I’m even going to feed your face. And it’s only $10!

If you’re into it, get your tickets here and let me know if you have any questions at all!

Have you had ideas for videos you’ve wanted to shoot and just not pulled the trigger, yet? What’s holding you back? Tell me about it in the comments and lets see if we can get you sorted out!
